Abstract:

The purpose of the research was to investigate the mediating role of mindfulness and academic enthusiasm in relation to perfectionism and academic performance. The method was descriptive of the correlation type. Among all girls high school students in the city of Jiroft in the academic year 2021-2022, 409 people were selected as the sample size by multi-stage cluster method and within each cluster by simple random method. To collect information, the questionnaires of Ryan and Braun's mindfulness, Dortaj's academic performance, Frederiks', Blumenfield's and Paris's academic enthusiasm scale, Staber et al.'s perfectionism were used. The data were analyzed by path analysis. The findings showed that: the direct effect of positive perfectionism variables on academic performance, negative perfectionism on academic performance, mindfulness on academic performance, academic enthusiasm on academic performance, positive perfectionism on mindfulness, negative perfectionism on academic enthusiasm, the indirect effect of positive perfectionism on academic performance through the mediation of mindfulness, the indirect effect of positive perfectionism on academic performance through the mediation of academic enthusiasm, the indirect effect of negative perfectionism on academic performance through the mediation of academic enthusiasm, were significant. also the direct effect of positive perfectionism on academic enthusiasm, negative perfectionism on mindfulness, and the indirect effect of negative perfectionism on academic performance through the mediation of mindfulness were not significant. The results showed that mindfulness and academic enthusiasm play a mediating role in relation to perfectionism and academic performance. Therefore, it is concluded that mindfulness and academic enthusiasm play a mediating role in the relationship between perfectionism and academic performance, and also mindfulness and academic enthusiasm in educational situations are as influencing variables on students' academic performance.
